BT's new package to offer 'anywhere' broadband service |
BT has launched its new Total Broadband Anywhere service that offers a package of smartphone BT ToGo mobile and Total Broadband fixed services.
The Total Broadband Anywhere service provides mobile calling and SMS facilities along with internet access to subscribers at home and on the move, for £23.99 a month. The BT ToGo smartphones come in two models, HTC S620 or S710, and are powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.
Within the Wi-Fi hotspots, users can make calls through BT Broadband Talk and connect to the internet using the BT ToGo device. Outside the hotspots, BT offers 10MB monthly download allowance with 50 call minutes and 50 SMS on any network at any time. The subscribers automatically join the BT FON Wi-Fi community.
John Petter, managing director of consumer at BT, said: "Communications services are converging, and it is clear that customers want consistent access to the things that matter not only at home, but in the palm of their hands wherever they are. When shopping, waiting for a train or having a coffee, Broadband Anywhere enables you to read emails, check the football score or compare prices."
The BT ToGo smartphone comes with a built-in camera, media player and preconfigured BT email address. BT Snap & Send enables users to click images and transfer them to a personal online BT Digital Vault to share them with others. The device is integrated with mobile security software for virus protection.
At home, Broadband Anywhere will offer Option 3 Total Broadband service, including a free black wireless Home Hub with Hub Phone, download speeds of up to 8Mbps with unlimited downloads, advanced online security, free 5GB Digital Vault secure online storage and 24/7 customer support
