Small firms seem determined to celebrate Christmas. According to a study by Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, a significant number of small employers are all prepared to invest in Christmas events and gifts. On average, small firms will be spending some £430 to mark Christmas this year. One in five firms will be paying for a staff party, while one in four will be buying gifts for clients and customers. Steve Jennings, director of business banking at Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, said: “It is clear from our research that, on the whole, small businesses are still prepared to spend extra cash on celebrating Christmas, despite being burdened with economic uncertainties.” Mr Jennings added: “This is really positive news and shows that small firms recognise the importance of building long term customer relationships and rewarding their employees for their contribution over the last 12 months.” |
