Carbon offsetting 'popular with SMEs' | Carbon offsetting 'popular with SMEs' |
Carbon offsetting is becoming more popular among SMEs, an environmental advice company said today (April 16th).
Workers are more conscious of levelling the guilt of taking luxury flights by making it up in their everyday lives, Carbon Footprint says. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) advises people to invest in efficient and renewable energy to aid personal carbon offsetting. Although offsetting will not reduce global warming it is an important process, particularly for businesses with high energy needs or regular air miles, in ensuring carbon emissions do not increase further. Founder of Carbon Footprint John Buckley said that many people he spoke to felt guilty about taking flights and so did more to offset the harmful emissions flying produces. 'Businesses are starting to offset more and more as well. We're getting a lot of enquiries all the time from companies wanting to reduce their emissions or offset them,' he said. He advised SMEs to invest in tree planting schemes, wind farms and other carbon offsetting initiatives. |
